Happy 4th of July to everyone! Since we moved here 4 years ago, we haven't left our house to go see a fireworks display, we don't have to. Part of me misses driving to City Park, sitting on your blanket, getting eaten by mosquitoes, saying ooh and ahh, sitting in traffic and driving home. That's it, you're done. Not in small town Missouri. There are literally fireworks stands every mile along the road. And I don't know if it is a boy thing or what but Keegan and Sam are obsessed with fireworks. As soon as they saw the firework tents set up they were all, "When can we buy fireworks?". Josh took them to the tent up the road from us, spent about 20 dollars on sparklers, smoke bombs and snakes. Which is just a drop in the bucket compared to what others spend, in the hundreds. Last night was a lot of fun, we kind of had a block party. About 6 sets of neighbors got together for BBQ and potluck then the Pyromaniacs began. Our street looked like a war zone with sparks and booms. They light them off in the middle of the road. We live on a thru street so cars would have to swerve around the firework debris. I can't believe this is legal. It all makes me a little nervous because of the safety issues so I spent a lot of time in the backyards while Josh supervised the kids. Keegan and Sam had the biggest smiles on their faces the whole time. While the festivities were still happening Sam was asking if we could go buy more tomorrow. No honey, this will be the only blowing up of things we will do for this year. (The camera battery died so I didn't get the best pics.)

Up in Smoke
